Sports Medicine Centre of Excellence will provide you with specialized care for your injury to allow you to return safely to your sport or activity as quickly as possible. You will have rapid access to our Sport Medicine Physician and therapists who will use of evidence based treatment protocols and the latest technologies to support your recovery.

What is a Centre of Excellence?

A centre of excellence is a team or facility that specializes in providing best practices in treatment or care, leadership, research or training in a specific area. We provide this expertise in Sports Medicine.

 

Dr. Fortier has cared all levels of athletes. He is also involved in training Sports Medicine Physicians for their certification examination. In September, he attended an invite only conference on Concussions that is being attended by some the world leaders in this field.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. Anyone may book an appointment with one of our physiotherapists without a referral. However, check with your insurance provider if you require a referral to physiotherapy to have your insurance cover the cost of the session. If your injury is not progressing as expected our therapists will ask if you would like to be assessed by our Sport Medicine Physician. The assessment by the Sports Medicine Physician is covered by OHIP.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

For your first appointment list of your medications, previous surgeries & health problems.

For all appointments wear or bring clothing that allows visualization of the affected body parts and bring dry, clean footwear.

For appointments for foot, leg or spine problems please also bring your usual athletic footwear.
For physician appointments bring your health card.

I am injured but I am not an athlete may I still come to the clinic?

YES! Everyone is welcome to come and be assessed by our team of experts. We have assisted many people who are not athletes to resume activities of daily living that they could no longer perform. We aim to provide each person with the best treatment for their condition every time.
